DRAWING IN THE EXPERIMENTAL FOREST
In 2019, the Great Lakes Design Lab held an interdisciplinary workshop at the Cloquet Experimental forest, where participants included faculty in landscape architecture, students, interdisciplinary faculty in the larger University of Minnesota, and beyond. We explored the site through drawing, photography and engagement, developing experimental site engagement and representation tools - my work explored markmaking with vegetation and found objects.
Through a design charette, groups explored the impacts of climate change and community engagement on the forest. Collaborating with Vince deBritto (Landscape Architecture) and Marcella Windmueller-Campione (Forestry) our work imagines potential futures for the forest based on management, harvesting, and engagement practices and impacts of climate change. The graphics overlayed analog mark marking and digital drawing.
